Sculptra is another type of filler but it is a different formulation, using poly-L-lactic acid that is reconstituted in water. It offers a “liquid facelift” because 9-18cc of liquid is injected per treatment. The Sculptra-water mix is injected into the skin, causing the skin to regenerate collagen – the molecule that is lost when we age causing skin to lose its elasticity and to sag. It takes 4-6 weeks to show the end result. Sculptra improves the appearance of folds and sunken areas and hides fat loss. The effects of the treatment last up to two years. Sculptra is an excellent option for very thin people whose faces tend to become gaunt as they age.
